Depression And Anxiety
Depression commonly manifests physically, through stomach pains, headaches, disrupted or excessive sleep, and motor control difficulty. While the causes of depression are unknown, a predisposition for it may run in families and can be triggered by trauma or adverse life circumstances. Depression and anxiety often exacerbate each other, and people with depression commonly have difficulty concentrating on tasks and conversations. Through treatment, adults can be empowered to develop mastery and confidence around their identified concerns, to enhance their ability to live a more confident life. Treatment methods may include but are not limited to: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focused Brief Therapy, EMDR.
Children and Adolescents may become preoccupied with worries and various influencing factors in their daily lives. They may have difficulty identifying and managing feelings, fears, and worries which can manifest symptoms and feelings, internally. Therapy with children and adolescents focuses on helping kids to externalize and develop mastery around their defined worries and symptoms. Often times creative treatment techniques may include: EMDR, CBT, SFBT, play, art, sand and mindfulness.
