Co-Parent Communication Counseling
Divorce is difficult for the entire family. The level of effective communication and functioning between co-parents, highly influences the level of functioning and healthy outcomes for children. Co-Parenting Communication Counseling can be essential for assisting parents with enhancing or developing their ability to communicate and parent together as a co-parenting system, or parallel parenting system, in the best interest of the child(ren). Parents are provided support and a framework to develop appropriate boundaries and communication styles, to anchor their interests in their children's needs, with consideration to child development and research regarding family systems and divorce. The focus is to empower each parent to minimize disruption for children, and effectively achieve appropriate parental oversight and consistency for children, so that children can thrive between both homes.
Co-parenting Counseling is a service that is provided by a mental health professional with advanced training in child development, divorce and family systems. Co-parenting communication counseling is not an insurance reimbursable services, as the mental health provider is not providing diagnostic assessment to either party. The fee for session is split evenly between each parent. Co-Parent Communication Counseling may be a court ordered service or sought independently of the court system.
